Parents will receive handouts which will help them talk to their children about the Jewish value of caring for animals. ADMISSIONS is a new play that explodes the ideals and contradictions of liberal white America. Sherri Rosen-Mason (Jessica Hecht) is head of the admissions department at a New England prep school, fighting to diversify the student body. And alongside her husband, the school's Headmaster, they've largely succeeded in bringing a stodgy institution into the twenty-first century. But when their only son sets his sights on an Ivy League university, personal ambition collides with progressive values, with convulsive results. Bring your little ones to sing, clap, dance, and shake their sillies out. Ezra Wube works with video, installation, drawing, painting, and performance. Reflecting on his identity as a person of two cultures at the intersection of tradition and modern life, Wube makes work about the uncertainty of time and place and the malleability of memory. A Memory of Astoria, commissioned by the Museum of the Moving Image, is an impressionistic portrait of the blocks surrounding this building. Wube walked the neighborhood to observe the area's confluence of cultures, focusing on everyday moments, sights, and sounds. He reconstituted these experiences into a poetic visual collage, inserting himself as a silhouetted observer exploring the memories of his walks. The production of A Memory of Astoria was an intensive, months-long process, with each frame painted in sequence on top of the last. The result is striking: street scenes assemble and disassemble, leaving visible marks of the past as if time and space have melted together. Through these impressions, Wube reveals a diverse, rapidly changing neighborhood that the Museum has called home for more than 30 years. Come for coffee and good conversation from January 10 through March 14. . . Pierre Boileau and Pierre Ayraud) 1951 novel She Who Was No More, Hitchcock would later famously adapt another Boileau-Narcejac work to the screen, remaking their 1956 novel The Living and the Dead as Vertigo in 1958. Believing they have drowned him in a bathtub, they dump his body in a swimming pool at the school they work at to suggest a drowning accident. The film’s twist is sparked when Christina later sees Michel — whom she believes is dead — slowly rising, fully clothed, from the tub. The combined skills of the Clouzots — Vera as actor and Henri-Georges as director — render this one of the most unforgettable double crosses in horror history. — AHN. Directed by Don Siegel, Invasion centers on Dr. Miles Bennell (Kevin McCarthy), an upstanding doctor in a close-knit small town in California. When he returns home from a work trip, he finds his town slowly unraveling under what seems to be mass hysteria about various loved ones being replaced by emotionless doppelgangers. As Bennell investigates, he finds the truth is more chilling than a collective delusion: People are actually being replaced thanks to an alien invasion. He parts from her briefly, and when he returns, he gives her passionate kiss — echoing a moment earlier in the film where he says he will always know her from her kiss — but the passion isn’t returned. Her face is cold and emotionless as she calls on other pod people to hunt him down. He escapes onto the highway, futilely warning people like a Middle American Cassandra. “They’re here already. The film was a bold treatise on the American sociopolitical reality of the 1950s, which was steeped in the paranoia of the McCarthy era. — AJB. But producer Hal E.

rienne visibly expects rejection from the Tyrells, and doesn't get it. Rather, Olenna is actually pleased, even thrilled to meet her — Brienne has a reputation, and it's impressive enough that the Queen of Thorns allows herself to be outwardly impressed by someone. Of course it's almost certainly an intentional manipulation — the Tyrells are always playing the game. But the fact that Brienne of Tarth is considered a valuable enough ally for them to go to the trouble speaks volumes. he manages to browbeat Jaime into acknowledging that he still has the spirit of an oath to keep. Over the course of the movie, the brothers investigate their strained relationship and get caught up in the strange events that lurk in the wilderness the cult calls home. This is a movie that delights in being strange and mysterious, rather than frightening (though the film’s implications are rather chilling). Coupled with Resolution, it seems like the start of a kind of indie shared universe built around a Lost -style puzzle box, something I find simultaneously intriguing and worthy of skepticism. Still, nothing is wasted here, the special effects are surprisingly good, every scene builds the world and it is obvious that a great deal of thought went into how that world works. In a ritual (a delightful mix of pulp occultism and heavy metal imagery), she summons the familiar spirit Pyewacket (last encountered in England by witchfinder general Matthew Hopkins, in 1644) to do her bidding. Things, well, don’t go as planned, because that’s the way of deals with the devil. Never have I witnessed such an unrelenting meditation on isolation, the hubris of man and the inevitability of death on a screen of any size. That wilderness exerts a peculiar influence on the wildlife in the area and was once inhabited by a Manson-like cult. Strange things begin to occur, of course, culminating in a harrowing, psychedelic supernatural climax. The direction is measured and patient, drawing clear tensions between the natural world, civilization and the unnatural world. Smash cuts and subtle editing tricks do much to make the viewer feel as disoriented and unsure of what is real as the protagonists. The performances are mostly understated and strong (though the hippie cult stuff might read as a bit silly compared to the heavy atmosphere of the rest of the film). While I try to celebrate the good while downplaying the bad, it occurs to me that this guide might benefit from a short list of the movies I cannot in good conscience recommend. First are the many films that just didn’t do it for me, or at least didn’t have enough good to outweigh the bad. I hope they do. Second are the stinkers, the ones you should avoid at all costs. It was just what you did at slumber parties, along with makeovers and prank phone calls. Even at eight years old, I knew that it wasn’t real.

Third, yes, I’m a fan of EXO, SNSD, f(x) and Shinee. They’re the only groups I thoroughly followed since the beginning. But I will not state who my biases are and who do I ship because it doesn’t matter, I will not be biased on my statements. I won’t be on Kaisoo shippers’ side, nor Kaistal shippers’ side. Lastly, I don’t work for SM Entertainment or any entertainment companies in South Korea. I work for a big media and entertainment company somewhere in Far East Asia (East and Southeast Asia, I’m sorry I don’t want to be very specific about this for obvious reasons). I’m not going to claim that everything I’m going to say about media companies are 100% evident and true in SM, but everything I’m going to say is a common practice among media and entertainment companies in East and Southeast Asia. My purpose is to let you guys be aware of some of our practices, I don’t intend on going against any companies and any people. Expected and general questions are usually half scripted, half scripted because we only say the gist of what they have to say, we don’t require them to memorize everything, of course. This is for PR purposes, it’s for their image and the image of the company. The artists know it anyway, that they have to keep their reputation good no matter what. Also, it’s the company’s decision if the artist will have to keep quiet about a certain topic. We only do this to artists who are considered important for the company, or the company’s favorites. So the company continued on giving him projects as if no scandal has ever happened. There is also this one singer whom we debuted as a “sexy-type” lady. But she’s actually the girly and shy type in real life. Again, not all the time because we only do this to important and favorite artists of the company. Actually, there’s a certain pair that has no chemistry at all in real life, like they don’t even care about each other (but they became friends eventually since they’re always together).

And because of his skill, we’re treated to deft camera work instead of nausea-inducing shakes. The movie takes place in two time frames: the 1980s, when a teenage girl has sold her soul; and the modern day, when two sisters struggle to piece together the circumstances of her suicide. While it is refreshing to have a horror movie focus solely on interesting women character, the rest of the movie feels prosaic in comparison. And yet, I still see people asking about it or announcing that they only recently discovered it for the first time. It seems, perhaps, that even the bigger horror films are still lesser-known. It follows a widow who is struggling to raise her son after the death of his father. The struggle with their lingering grief, and the psychological dysfunction that comes with it, becomes manifest in the titular Babadook, a sinister boogey-man intent on driving the pair to kill each other. A musing on grief and loss, driven by powerful performances by Essie Davis and Noah Wiseman, the film keeps the viewer in a perpetually off-balance state. First, it belongs to recently developing horror sub-genre that worships John Carpenter’s The Thing ( Almost Human, Blood Glacier, The Void ). Second, its central antagonist suffers from budget constraints in ways similar to Late Phases (below). If you can’t get past those two things, Black Mountain Side isn’t for you. Their discovery of a stone structure that pre-dates the local native population leads to excitement that eventually gives way to paranoia and supernatural mayhem. Unlike The Thing, we get to spend more time with the team, which makes their fates all the more terrible. Something about its handling of the jealous husband going off the rails into a supernatural phantasmagoria feels tired, or at least terribly familiar. The boys are a mix of bullies and bullied, the worst of the former a boy named Sam with a traumatic past. Meanwhile, the scout masters are young, goofy, horny and probably only marginally qualified to care for a large group of boys in the wilderness. Naturally, they camp in the wrong place and run afoul of a poacher, his feral son and their numerous death traps. Still, the characters are well-drawn and the direction is capable.

I want her to make decisions for herself because it’s what SHE wants. He fights with enthusiasm but without any particular concern with aim or tactics. Roose and Ramsay have betrayed every ally they’ve had, including the old Starks. And Sansa, despite everything, considers herself a good, proper lady. It’s clear from the beginning how she was raised to think of her place in the world, and I don’t think it will change. Sansa may find ways to survive and find inner strength in that, but nothing more. We can debate wether or not that can be said about Ramsay in the books, but he is the son of a high Lord so he probably is. And in the show there is just no question about it. Sansa needs to stop thinking within the “good, proper lady” parameters. Jon would be in no posistion to order Sansa to do anything, and would have to do as she requests. If Sansa says she wants to be at WF in this scenario, there’s not a damn thing Jon can do about it. Jon’s status, Rickon’s location, Sansa’s standing with the Lords. Also, if Jon is in charge in this case, I still struggle with the idea of him ordering her around, this is the person who kept saying it was hers by right after all. Ramsay cannot be discounted in this of course, but his blind spot has always been Sansa (or moreso her resemblance to Cat) this is the only time we’ve seen him be less than logical. He is not going to be okay with Sansa reuniting with any Starks, let alone one that is supposed to resemble Ned so much (not to mention the fact that LF knows that all it takes is for Jon to be a legitimatised son of Ned to put him above Sansa, and poof all his recent plans are undone, though while I do not think Sansa was a part of his plans in the beginning, I imagine he’s always had things in mind for the North). That’s a waste of narrative, especially when you consider that every other female character (i. . Cersei, Daenerys, Brienne, etc.
