I think they are passionate fans who are emotionally invested in the series. And they would be disappointed to see their favorite show end in a manner that differs greatly from the outcome they had hoped for. In time, when people understand what Martin meant to say through this gigantic writing effort and this particular ending, I think most will appreciate it. I kinda buy the Varys's betrayal thing but don't really get why he would do that. Unless he's just trying to get on the good side of whoever wins the war. Except for the throne room getting burnt down, I think that bit's definitely on the docket. When he goes back in time to prevent the Children from ever creating the Night King, Bran wargs into the man we see in the show being turned into the Night King. It is explained in the second post, The Training, how Bran's human warging abilities work (Bran has to fry the brain of a host in order to control his body. But it takes some time to completely fry the brain of a host. So Bran having been in the body of that First Man for only a few minutes, did not have time to completely erase the owner's spirit. Therefore, at the moment this man is turned into the NK, both Bran spirit and some of the First Man's spirit coexist in that body. That's why in the show, after seing this event, Bran's posture is exactly the same as the posture of the first man being turned into the NK. And that's why he empathizes so much with the scene he had just witnessed (because that s exactly how he would have reacted to the event had he been there). Regarding Varys, it's just like it's written in the post. He needed to downsize Dany's absolutely overwhelming army in case she ended up becoming a threat to Aegon sitting on the Iron Throne. Varys needed to make sure she'd be beatable and that he had an insurance if this scenario were to happen. However, with this storyline, Varys would not be a ladder climber. All so the man in which he had put his faith, Aegon (a Targaryen) would finish his work and heal the whole Targaryen family. Which in Varys' head, is synonym with sustainable peace for the 7 Kingdoms. It's just like he told Oberyn.

Luckily it’s not broken, but it hurts a little bit. €ť Arenado was hit by a pitch from Vance Worley. Following the Rockies’ 5-3 loss, Arenado said his hand was swollen and stiff, but he hopes to be sidelined for only a couple of days and avoid a stint on the disabled list. The All-Star third baseman has missed only three games this season and is batting. 11. “I can’ t hide my happiness, ” Green said. “I’ m thrilled and excited to be able to staying here to lead this organization. There is no other place I’ d rather be. €ť Green, 40, is in the second year of his original contract with the struggling Padres (51-65), and the organization is encouraged by the way he has handled his young team. He and Jeter have known each other for more than 20 years and are close friends. They took a 4-1 lead into the ninth, with Keynan Middleton on the mound. Robinson Cano led off with a single and then Nelson Cruz sent him to third with a double, bringing the potential tying run to the plate as a packed Safeco Field began to rock. Middleton then retired Guillermo Heredia and Leonys Martin on a pair of fly balls to pick up the save. It was the Angels sixth victory in seven games since last Sunday’s debacle against the Oakland A’s, when they blew a 10-5 lead in the seventh. That game was a week after they blew a 10-4 lead in the ninth to the Toronto Blue Jays. As painful as those losses were, the Angels demonstrated their resilience with the way they responded to each. After the Oakland game, they faced a week of games against teams competing with them for the wild card. They took two of three from the Baltimore Orioles and swept four from the Mariners. The Angels now have their first six-game winning streak since July 2016. They swept a four-game series on the road for the first time since September 2014, in Minnesota.

OF COURSE he would’ve, and Sansa, knowing what Jon has been through, should know that. I thought they were extremely expensive and not necessarily accepting of cash money. Seems strange that an actress made an enemy so large to justify that kind of price. But seeing as Cersei is penniless and the crown are heavily in debt to the Iron Bank, then maybe that’s why it’s not been mentioned. Maybe Arya’s difficult choice will be to decide if she should kill an innocent person just to collect their face. But she should realize that it is all part of the job. Just like you can tell the Sand Snake actresses do a fair bit of their stunts based off of how badly it looks. Also, and I could be totally wrong about this, I THINK I remember seeing some behind the scenes thing where Maisie did the jump off her back, but had wires to assist. I guess that? how more cosmopolitan peoples still see the North. There’s no visible friction between the actresses and Jaqen is evasive when Arya asks him who paid for the gift, and says that servants of the many faced God don’t ask questions. Yet in S5 he’s fairly open and explains the reason behind Aryas first assignment at the harbourside. Maybe he’s more secretive after her last transgression or he’s withholding the truth for another reason. Sansa knows Ramsey and she knows that as long as he’s warden of the North, none of them will be safe and it turns out she was right. At this point they don’t have a choice but to take back Winterfell, it’s no longer a question of whether or not Sansa wants revenge on Ramsey (which I’m sure she does). Hence Jon is just as much Ned’s son as Ramsey is Roose’s. If we see Jon reacting negatively to her words, it’s not a reflection of her intentions, but his own internal baggage with his status as Ned’s bastard (which we know he has a ton of). Her actions are exaggerated and even taken out of context to make them seem more nefarious they really are. This is very typical for female characters in almost any fandom. If people want to criticize Sansa for lying to Jon, that’s fine.

For another, social networking sites engender habits of mind that are inimical to the kind of deliberate discourse that gives rise to ideas. Instead of theories, hypotheses and grand arguments, we get instant 140-character tweets about eating a sandwich or watching a TV show. While social networking may enlarge one’s circle and even introduce one to strangers, this is not the same thing as enlarging one’s intellectual universe. Indeed, the gab of social networking tends to shrink one’s universe to oneself and one’s friends, while thoughts organized in words, whether online or on the page, enlarge one’s focus. To paraphrase the famous dictum, often attributed to Yogi Berra, that you can’t think and hit at the same time, you can’t think and tweet at the same time either, not because it is impossible to multitask but because tweeting, which is largely a burst of either brief, unsupported opinions or brief descriptions of your own prosaic activities, is a form of distraction or anti-thinking. Interaction and ideas on Twitter and other technology-enabled platforms for human communication are as rich and prosaic as humanity itself. It’s quite easy to find “thoughts organized into words” and “grand arguments” on any social networking site on any given day. These are not trivial forums for discourse at any level. To reduce the effects of technology on social interaction in this manner is simplistic. It does not live up to the quality of intellectual thought that the author himself calls for as the central idea of the article. I guess we might interpret this as just more evidence of the ill-effects of Twitter on our culture. The aforementioned Jaron Lanier, himself a player in and product of the world of technology, seems to be, incidentally, the kind of big thinker that Gabler pines for. Technology is still, as of this writing, made by and for human beings. If technology prevents us from having ideas and represses our humanity, then we do that to ourselves. Such as the “Lyrics of Sting” being recommended based on enjoying Walt Whitman’s “Leaves of Grass. €ť I tried to play too, but I lost interest after a cursory search for some of my favorite books and authors came up altogether empty. So click through and see what hilarious, interesting, and arguably accurate choices we found on our trip through the site. Agger’s quietly funny column includes some aha’s into the process of writing, some moments of vigorous nodding-and-agreeing (such as in the intro, excerpted below) and a rare banana-nut muffin pop-culture reference. Kellogg terms the highest level of writing as “knowledge-crafting. €ť In that state, the writer’s brain is juggling three things: the actual text, what you plan to say next, and-most crucially-theories of how your imagined readership will interpret what’s being written.
